'I'm really sorry that this happened': Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg apologizes for Cambridge Analytica data scandal

Image
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he was "really sorry that this happened" Wednesday in his first interview on the massive data scandal that has roiled the social-media network this week. Zuckerberg made the apology on CNN hours after he and the company's chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg,  on the matter. The British data firm Cambridge Analytica inappropriately used 50 million Facebook user profiles to target ads in support of its clients, including Donald Trump's successful 2016 US presidential campaign. In the CNN interview, Zuckerberg said he regretted taking Cambridge Analytica at its word when it signed a legal document in 2015 certifying that it had deleted the information from those profiles — but had not. "I don't know about you, but I'm used to when people legally certify that they are going to do something, that they do it," Zuckerberg said. "But I think this was clearly a mistake in retrospect." He also said he w...

The surprising health benefit hiding in turmeric

Image
Turmeric — an Asian spice that gives curry its signature color — has made its mark as a “superfood.” Research has linked the ancient spice to a slew of health benefits, like reducing your risk of prostate cancer and heart disease, fighting bacteria and viruses, and even relieving pain. Most of these benefits are tied back to curcumin, the compound behind turmeric’s vibrant yellow pigment. Now, a new study from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), suggests it may protect your memory and mood, too. Researchers split 40 adults between the ages of 50 and 84 — all of whom had mild memory problems — into two groups. One group took 90 milligrams of curcumin twice a day, while the other group popped a placebo. Both groups performed cognitive tests throughout the 18-month experiment to measure their memory markers. Thirty of them, half of whom were taking curcumin, also had their brains scanned at the beginning and end of the study to check for abnormal proteins called bet...

Image
Brazil are one of the favourites for the 2018 World Cup, but injury to superstar Neymar still weakens the 'Selecao', Germany winger Leroy Sane said Saunday. "Brazil aren't as dependent on Neymar as they were in 2014," said Manchester City winger Sane. "They are better positioned and have a few new stars, but it still makes a big difference whether Neymar plays or not." Germany host Brazil in a mouth-watering friendly at Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Tuesday as part of both teams' build-up to June's World Cup in Russia. It will be their first meeting since the Germans stunned Brazil with five goals inside half an hour in a 7-1 romp in the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup. Just as back then, Brazil forward Neymar is sidelined by injury. This time the world's most expensive player is recovering from foot surgery. He is expected to be fit in time for the World Cup, which kicks off on June 14. Brazil beat Russia 3-0 on Friday wit...

Friendlies Forward places up for grabs as Spain take on Argentina

Image
Two of the World Cup's leading contenders will meet in Madrid on Tuesday but neither Spain nor Argentina have yet settled on a forward line for this summer. For Argentina and Jorge Sampaoli the question is who best to stir Lionel Messi, with the two-time winners again boasting an embarrassment of riches up front, while showing little indication they know how to deploy them. The supporting trio of Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero and Angel di Maria could reunite in Russia but they have disappointed together before, when all were younger and arriving in better form. Meanwhile, Paulo Dybala, one of the game's most exciting young forwards, faces a fight for inclusion after being left off Sampaoli's latest list, and Mauro Icardi is expected to find his 26 goals for Inter Milan this season insufficient to make the squad. Argentina may have to continue their search at the Wanda Metropolitano without their key component as Messi has been struggling with pain in his hamstring...

The aisles were cleared and the stage was set as  Orange Culture ,  the final presentation of the night prepared to show . The crowd was packed and the excitement was palpabale.
